CONSCIOUS ABOUT WHAT I EAT

Traditional lunch meal in Tokyo, JapanI am Japanese and love Japanese foods.

Generally speaking, Japanese foods are very healthy. Sushi, Tempura, ShabuShabu and Sukiyaki are well known by western people. We don’t eat them every day but Japanese home cooking and regular dishes can be very salty.

During my Wellness Retreat in Maui, I tried to ingest natural foods like fruits and vegetables as much as possible. I am not a vegetarian so I eat some meats, eggs and dairy products (especially vanilla ice cream as it’s good for reducing my Pitta constitution).

I realized this my be a benefit from being on my Maui wellness retreat. I felt stress free and knew it was from a healthy diet during the retreat.

I was surprised when I returned to Tokyo that I couldn’t eat Japanese foods! All the cooking was too salty for me, which means my sense of taste became very sensitive since the retreat. I couldn’t believe how salty foods I used to have in Japan.

The Wellness retreat on Maui gave me an great opportunity to review my eating habits. Since then I'm more conscious about what I eat so that I can have a healthy mind and healthy body.
