We have been fortunate to receive the Yoga Teachings of Patanjali (Raja Yoga) and the ways in which these teachings have been transmitted through the Krishnamacharya lineage. Considered the greatest yogi of our times, his work is now popular all over the world through his students, including BKS. Iyengar, Pattabhi Jois, Indra Devi and TKV Desikachar.

Ted Surman is the founder of Yoga Awareness. He began practicing Yoga in 1990 and met his first teacher Gary Kraftsow at American Viniyoga Institute. Since 2001 Ted has studied in India at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram and with TKV Desikachar and his son Kausthub. Ted continues to travel to Chennai, India to study with his current teachers at Yoga Raksanam (DV Sridhar, Radha Sridhar, Viji Vasu) and at Pathway Health Center (Dr Ganesh).
