Gary & Mirka Kraftsow

Gary is the Founder and Director
of the American Viniyoga Institute (AVI).

At the age of 19 he traveled to Madras to meet
T.K.V. Desikachar and T. Krishnamacharya, initiating a link
to the Viniyoga tradition that has become his lifelong dedication.

Gary has taught Yoga and practiced Yoga therapy since 1976.
In 1983 he completed a Master's program in psychology and religion
at the University of California, Santa Barbara, focusing his study on
health as a paradigm for spiritual transformation. Gary also received
the Viniyoga Special Diploma in 1988, recognizing his ability to
train teachers and therapists in this lineage.

Mirka is has been teaching Viniyoga and
practicing yoga therapy since 1988. Mirka is the Director of
Teacher Development for the American Viniyoga Institute (AVI).
